Jonathan Nowak is an award-winning writer/director who believes in the paranormal, urban bikes through the streets of LA, runs barefoot, builds tree houses, lives in Venice, CA and works in every form of cinematic storytelling out there.

After starting his career at Fallon in Minneapolis, working on the BMWFilms project, Jonathan knew he wanted to focus on the blossoming world of branded content.  Thankfully that term is a bit passé and we’re in the midst of a short film renaissance.

As a commercial director Jonathan has worked on campaigns for M&Ms, Nissan, Norelco, Lee Jeans, JVC, and McDonalds along with many others.  Included amongst the many great agencies he’s worked with are Chiat Day, Fallon, Mother, Carmichael Lynch, mono, GSD&M, and BBDO NY.

As a writer/director Jonathan has done narrative films (branded content) for Microsoft, Pringles, Bethesda, Nissan, Marvin Windows, CMT, YouTube, AKQA, Chiat Day, Fallon, mono, Carmichael Lynch, and Rough Trade Records.

Jonathan has also done trailers for Xbox, Assassin’s Creed, Fallout 3, Homefront, Forza 4, and Yogi Bear.  Jonathan won the best director at MI6 for his work on Fallout 3 – which also won the overall award.

Jonathan’s short films have played in SXSWSundanceLos Angeles Film Festival, amongst numerous National and International Festivals.  His most recent short documentary, Man & Machine: a Naked Robotic Love Story, recently premiered at SXSW.  Some of his other shorts have been featured on Funny or Die, GOOD Magazine, Fast Company, IFC, and the Sundance Channel.

As a writer Jonathan has worked for NBC Universal, Disney, The Ant Farm, and a number of other production companies and agencies.  For a summer project Jonathan produced and directed M@dAbout, a kids sketch comedy series that was picked up for syndication.   Many of his feature and television projects have been optioned over the years.
